Method

For the Chili

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add the Vegetables

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Mix in the Sauce

Stir in the tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

For the Dogs

  1. 5

    Prepare the Waffle Fries

Cook the waffle fries according to the package instructions until crispy and golden brown.

  2. 6

    Cook the Franks

While the fries are cooking, grill or pan-fry the all-beef franks over medium heat until heated through and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 7

    Assemble the Chili Dogs

Place each frank on a plate, spoon a generous amount of the house-made chili over each frank, and top with shredded cheddar cheese.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve the open-faced chili dogs alongside a serving of crispy waffle fries.
