Method

Pickles Preparation

  1. 1

    Drain Pickles

Open the jar of pickle rounds and drain the liquid. Pat the pickles dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Batter Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in cold water until the batter is smooth and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil; if it sizzles and bubbles, it's ready.

  2. 4

    Fry Pickles

Dip each pickle round into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 5

    Drain Fried Pickles

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with additional salt if desired.

Ranch Dressing Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Ranch Dressing

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
