Method

Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Ensure the pork is evenly coated with the spice mixture.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and chicken broth around the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender and easily shredded.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the juices.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Add BBQ Sauce

Mix the shredded pork with BBQ sauce in the slow cooker. Allow it to heat up for an additional 30 minutes on low.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the pork is heating, lightly toast the pretzel buns in the oven or on a skillet until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Spoon a generous amount of the BBQ pulled pork onto the bottom half of each pretzel bun. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and place the top half of the bun over it.
