Method
Chicken Marinade
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts and ensure they are fully submerged in the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
Breading
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In another bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. This will be used to coat the marinated chicken.
Frying the Chicken
- 3
Fry the Chicken
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece of chicken in the breading mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it adheres. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the breaded chicken pieces. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove the chicken and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Sandwich Assembly

Assemble the Sandwich
Toast the burger buns if desired. Spread 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a fried chicken breast on top, followed by slices of tomato and a generous amount of pickles. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.
