For the Mozzarella Sticks

For the Marinara Sauce (optional)

Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Sticks

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape while frying.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second bowl, and combine the bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Remove the frozen cheese sticks from the freezer. Dredge each stick in the flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each stick is evenly coated. Repeat for all sticks.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread in it; if it sizzles, it’s ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully place a few breaded mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning them halfway through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.

For the Marinara Sauce (optional)

  1. 7

    Cook the Sauce

In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, and add basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  3. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  4. 10

    Serve with Mozzarella Sticks

Serve the marinara sauce warm alongside the mozzarella sticks for dipping.
