Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking.

Prepare the Bun and Toppings

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Spread butter on the cut sides of the burger buns. Place them butter-side down on the grill or skillet for about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Slice the Vegetables

While the buns are toasting, slice the tomato and onion into rings. Wash the lettuce leaves and set aside.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by the cooked beef patty, slices of tomato, and onion rings.

  2. 8

    Complete the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
