Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. 5

    Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Toasting the Cake

  1. 8

    Slice the Cake

Once the pound cake is completely cool, slice it into thick slices, about 1 inch wide.

  2. 9

    Melt Butter

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter for toasting.

  3. 10

    Toast the Slices

Add the slices of pound cake to the skillet and toast until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

  4. 11

    Serve

Remove the toasted pound cake from the skillet. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries if desired.
