Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully blended.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Heat the Skillet

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil, if desired.

  3. 5

    Cook the Pancakes

For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes more.

  4. 6

    Serve

Remove the pancakes from the skillet and keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm with maple syrup and butter as desired.
