Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, and sauté for about 5 minutes until they become translucent.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Cook the Potatoes

Add the diced potatoes and clam juice to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.

Combine Ingredients

  1. 4

    Add Clams and Cream

Once the potatoes are tender, stir in the chopped clams and heavy cream. Continue to cook over low heat for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  2. 5

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as necessary.

Serve

    Garnish and Serve

Ladle the chowder into bowls, and garnish with chopped parsley and crumbled bacon if desired. Serve hot with fresh bread.
