Burger Preparation

1

Prepare the Beef Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Form Patties

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

3

Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and add a slice of cheddar cheese on top. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts and the burgers reach your desired doneness.

4

Prepare the Tomato

While the patties are cooking, slice the large tomato into thin rounds.

5

Toast the Buns

In the same skillet or on the grill, toast the burger buns for about 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown.

6

Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, and then a slice of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
