Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the saucepan with the tomato sauce. Gently stir to coat the meatballs with sauce.

Add Mozzarella
Transfer the meatballs and sauce to an oven-safe dish. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Preheat the broiler. Place the dish under the broiler for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
