Method
Cocktail
- 1
Combine ingredients
Add San Luigi Garden Amaro (1.5 oz), golden falernum (0.75 oz), fresh pineapple juice (2 oz), fresh lime juice (0.5 oz), and simple syrup (0.25 oz) into a cocktail shaker.
- 2
Add bitters
If using, add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters to the shaker to deepen spice and aromatic complexity.
- 3
Shake with ice
Fill the shaker with ice (preferably cubed), and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well-chilled and slightly diluted.
- 4
Prepare glass
Fill a Collins or highball glass about 3/4 full with crushed ice.
- 5
Strain and layer
Double-strain the shaken mixture over the crushed ice. Use a Hawthorne or fine strainer to keep out pulp and shards of ice.
- 6
- 7
Grate nutmeg
Finish by grating fresh nutmeg directly over the top (about a light dusting to taste). Nutmeg should be aromatic but not overpowering.
Garnish & Serve
- 8
Garnish with a pineapple wedge or half wheel on the rim and a mint sprig tucked into the crushed ice, if desired.
- 9
Serve immediately with a straw. Encourage the drinker to stir occasionally as they sip to re-integrate flavors as the ice melts.
