Preparation

Dough Preparation

1. Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

2. Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

5. Cook Vegetables

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté until the onions are translucent.

6. Add Beef and Tomato

Add the shredded carne seca and diced tomato to the skillet. Season with black pepper and salt. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until heated through.

7. Combine with Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in the grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and well combined.

Assembly and Baking

8. Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

9. Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large circle or rectangle to fit your baking dish.

10. Fill the Dough

Transfer the rolled dough to a greased baking dish. Spread the carne seca filling evenly over the dough.

11. Cover and Bake

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

12. Serve

Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
