Method

Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the mixture into two 4 oz patties.

  2. 2

    Grill the Patties

Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, adding a slice of American cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking.

Toppings

  1. 3

    Sauté the Onions

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet, add a bit of oil and sauté the onions over medium heat until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Roast the Tomatoes

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Halve the cherry tomatoes and place them on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt, and roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes.

  3. 5

    Prepare the Garlic Aioli

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Stir until smooth and set aside.

  4. 6

    Cook the Bacon (Optional)

In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  5. 7

    Fry the Egg (Optional)

In the same skillet, crack the egg and fry it to your liking (sunny side up or over easy).

Bun

  1. 8

    Toast the Buns

Spread butter on the inside of each brioche bun. In a skillet or on the grill, toast the buns until golden brown.

Fries

  1. 9

    Prepare the Fries

Cut the potatoes into fries. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a pot. Once hot, carefully add the fries and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 10

    Build Your Burger

On the bottom half of the toasted brioche bun, layer the arugula, followed by the grilled patty with melted cheese, sautéed onions, herb-roasted tomatoes, and garlic aioli. If desired, add crispy bacon and a fried egg. Top with the other half of the bun and serve with fresh-cut fries.
