Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, large egg, and melted butter until smooth.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Heat the Pan

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with a small amount of butter or oil.

  3. 5

    Cook Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of the pancake batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Serve

Stack the pancakes on a plate and dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm with your favorite syrup or fruit, if desired.
