Method
Ice Cream Base Preparation
- 1
Mixing the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- 2
Chilling the Base
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results. This allows the flavors to meld and the mixture to chill thoroughly.
Flavoring the Ice Cream
- 3
Add Chocolate Flavor
If you are making chocolate ice cream, add the cocoa powder to the chilled mixture and whisk until fully combined.
- 4
Add Strawberry Flavor
For strawberry ice cream, fold the pureed strawberries into the chilled base until well incorporated.
- 5
Add Coconut Flavor
For coconut ice cream, mix in the coconut milk to the chilled base until smooth.
- 6
Add Ube Flavor
For ube ice cream, add the ube extract to the chilled base and mix thoroughly to ensure even flavor distribution.
Churning and Freezing
- 7
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the prepared ice cream mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually around 20-25 minutes.
- 8
Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
