Method
Chicken Wings
- 1
Prepare Chicken Wings
In a large bowl, mix buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken wings to the bowl, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- 2
Coat Chicken Wings
In a separate bowl, place the all-purpose flour. Remove the marinated chicken wings from the refrigerator and let excess marinade drip off. Dredge each wing in the flour until fully coated. Set aside on a wire rack.
- 3
Fry Chicken Wings
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken wings in batches for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Ube Waffles
- 4
Make Waffle Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, ube powder, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- 5
Cook Waffles
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Lightly grease it with cooking spray. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's directions or until waffles are golden brown. Repeat until all batter is used.
Whipped Butter and Maple Syrup
- 6
Prepare Whipped Butter
In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until fluffy. Serve alongside maple syrup for drizzling over waffles.
