Bolognese Sauce Preparation

Cook the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

Add Garlic and Beef
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Once the beef is browned, add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Parmesan Béchamel Sauce Preparation

Make Roux
Add the flour to the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to form a roux.

Add Milk
Gradually add the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue to cook and whisk until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in Cheese and Seasonings
Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until smooth.
Assembling the Lasagna

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Layer the Ingredients
In a cast iron skillet, spread a layer of Bolognese sauce at the bottom, followed by a layer of lasagna noodles. Repeat the layers, alternating between Bolognese sauce and béchamel sauce, finishing with béchamel on top.

Add Fresh Basil
Sprinkle the chopped fresh basil over the top layer of béchamel sauce.

Rest and Serve
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
