Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the condensed milk, heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Use a whisk to blend them together until smooth.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill. This will help enhance the flavors.

Churning and Freezing

  1. 3

    Churn the Mixture

Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  2. 4

    Add Optional Mix-ins

If desired, fold in your choice of optional mix-ins (chocolate chips, crushed nuts, or fruit puree) just before the gelato is fully churned.

  3. 5

    Freeze the Gelato

Transfer the gelato to an airtight container. Press a piece of parchment paper directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals from forming. Seal the container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

Serving

  1. 6

    Scoop and Serve

Remove the gelato from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes to soften slightly. Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy!
