Method

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method. Allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Mix Coffee and Liqueur

In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee with the coffee liqueur. Set aside.

Make Mascarpone Filling

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, and whisk until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.

  2. 4

    Combine with Mascarpone

Allow the egg yolk mixture to cool slightly, then fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.

  3. 5

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

  4. 6

    Incorporate Cream

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer Components

In a rectangular dish, place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers.

  3. 9

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.

Chill and Serve

  1. 10

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld.

  2. 11

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
