Method
Phyllo Dough Dessert Directions
- 1
- 2
Add Aromatics
Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes. Add vanilla extract and ground cinnamon, stir well, and then remove from heat. Set aside to cool.
- 3
Prepare the Nuts
In a mixing bowl, combine chopped pistachios, walnuts, and hazelnuts. Mix well and set aside.
- 4
Prepare Phyllo Layers
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
- 5
- 6
Add Nut Filling
Spread a portion of the nut mixture evenly over the buttered phyllo layers.
- 7
Continue Layering
Add 4 more layers of phyllo, brushing each layer with melted butter before adding the next one. Top with another portion of the nut mixture.
- 8
Finish with Phyllo
Repeat the layering process until all nuts are used, finishing with a final layer of phyllo dough (about 8 layers), brushing the top with butter.
- 9
Bake the Dessert
Cut the assembled phyllo dessert into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- 10
Drizzle with Syrup
Once baked, remove from the oven and immediately drizzle the cooled honey syrup over the top. Allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
