Lahmajoun Ingredients

Method

Lahmajoun Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, warm water, instant yeast, and salt. Mix until the dough begins to form.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Meat Mixture

In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until soft. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.

  4. 4

    Add Flavorings

Stir in the tomato paste, bell pepper, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and cinnamon. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until well combined. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Let the mixture cool slightly.

  5. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  6. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle (about 1/8 inch thick).

  7. 7

    Assemble Lahmajoun

Spread a thin layer of the meat mixture evenly over each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge.

  8. 8

    Bake the Lahmajoun

Place the lahmajoun on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crispy.

  9. 9

    Serve

Remove from the oven, drizzle with tahini sauce, and top with fresh vegetables and lemon slices. Serve warm.
