Method

For the Fried Pickle Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickle chips thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.

  3. 3

    Add Buttermilk

Pour the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and stir until fully incorporated. The batter should be thick enough to coat the pickle chips.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; it should sizzle immediately.

  5. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle chip into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the battered pickle chips into the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried pickle chips using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

For the Spicy Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 8

    Mix the Dipping Sauce

In a small bowl, combine ranch dressing, hot sauce, and chopped parsley. Stir until well mixed.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the spicy ranch dipping sauce alongside the fried pickle chips for dipping.
