Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Muddle fruit and cucumber

Place the 3 cucumber slices and 1/2 cup diced green apple into a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add the 0.5 oz agave nectar and 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice. Using a muddler, gently but firmly muddle the cucumber and apple until they release juice and the mixture is fragrant and slightly pulpy (about 20–30 seconds). Do not over-muddle into a full puree—aim for a pulpy, juicy base.

  2. 2

    Add gin and chill

Add 2 oz gin to the muddled fruit. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled.

  3. 3

    Double strain

Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice using a fine mesh strainer plus the shaker's strainer to remove fruit solids and seeds, yielding a smooth, clear drink with fresh flavor.

  4. 4

    Top (optional)

If you prefer a lighter, slightly effervescent drink, top with 1.5 oz club soda. Gently stir once to combine.

  5. 5

    Adjust sweetness

Taste the cocktail. If you prefer it sweeter, add simple syrup to taste (start with 0.25 oz) and stir briefly to incorporate.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a cucumber ribbon or a thin green apple slice threaded on the rim and a lemon wheel. Serve immediately.
