Base

Chocolate Ganache

Method

Prepare the Base

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.

  4. 4

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Prepare Colorful Toppings

  1. 5

    Divide the Batter

Once the cake base is baked and cooled, cut it into equal squares. Divide the batter into four bowls and add a different color food coloring to each bowl. Mix well until the colors are vibrant.

  2. 6

    Layer the Colors

Layer the colored batter into a new greased pan in a rainbow pattern. Use a skewer to swirl the colors gently together for a marbled effect.

  3. 7

    Top with Whipped Cream

Once set, spread the whipped cream evenly over the top of the cake to cover the surface.

  4. 8

    Add Edible Glitter

Sprinkle the edible glitter over the whipped cream for an extra touch of sparkle.

Prepare Chocolate Ganache

  1. 9

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  2. 10

    Melt the Chocolate

Remove from heat and add the dark chocolate chips to the hot cream. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

  3. 11

    Drizzle Ganache

Allow the ganache to cool slightly, then drizzle it over the cake for an indulgent finish.
