Preparation

Brewing Process

1. Prepare the Mash

In a large brew kettle, heat 3 gallons of water to around 150°F (65°C). Add the Pale Malt and Caramel Malt to the water and stir well. Allow the mixture to steep for 60 minutes.

2. Sparging

After the mash has steeped, heat an additional 2 gallons of water to 170°F (77°C). Slowly pour this water over the mash to rinse the grains and extract more sugars, collecting the liquid (wort) in a separate pot.

3. Boiling

Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Hops and boil for 60 minutes. This step adds bitterness and aroma to the beer.

4. Cooling

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or ice bath until it reaches around 70°F (21°C).

5. Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and add the yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment in a dark, cool place for about 2 weeks.

6. Bottling

After fermentation is complete, transfer the beer into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Cap the bottles and allow them to carbonate for another 1-2 weeks.

Serving Suggestions

7. Chill and Serve

Chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Serve the beer in a chilled glass and garnish with a lemon wedge and mint leaves if desired.
