Prepare Waffle Batter

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are some lumps.
Prepare Fried Chicken

Marinate Chicken
Place the chicken breasts in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Fry Chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
Prepare Pecan Sauce

Make Sauce
In the same skillet, add butter, honey, and cayenne pepper. Stir until melted and combined. Add toasted pecans and mix well.
Assemble the Dish

Cook Waffles
Preheat the waffle iron. Pour the waffle batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions until golden brown.

On each plate, place a waffle, top with fried chicken, sprinkle with bacon bits, drizzle with pecan sauce, and finish with Steen’s syrup.
