Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the certified Angus beef steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned steak in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Caramelizing Onions

  1. 5

    Slice the Onion

Thinly slice the large onion to prepare for caramelization.

  2. 6

    Melt the Tallow

In the same skillet used for the steak, add the beef tallow and heat over medium heat until melted.

  3. 7

    Cook the Onions

Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.

Steak Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

Slice the rested steak against the grain, top with caramelized onions, and drizzle with the house-made steak sauce before serving.
