Beef Rib

Crispy Onions

Mashed Red Potatoes

Method

Beef Rib Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Rib

Rub the Black Angus beef rib with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Ensure an even coating.

  2. 2

    Slow Cook the Rib

Place the seasoned rib in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.

Barbeque Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Heat the sauce over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

Crispy Onions Preparation

  1. 5

    Slice the Onion

Thinly slice the large onion into rings.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Breading

Dip each onion ring into buttermilk, then coat with all-purpose flour mixed with salt.

  3. 7

    Fry the Onions

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the onion rings until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Mashed Red Potatoes Preparation

  1. 8

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the red potatoes into quarters. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 9

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Final Assembly

  1. 10

    Assemble the Dish

Once the rib is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and brush it generously with the barbeque sauce. Top with crispy onions.

  2. 11

    Serve

Plate the rib alongside a generous scoop of mashed red potatoes. Drizzle any remaining barbeque sauce over the potatoes if desired.
