Method

Biscuit Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Add Butter

Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Milk

Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass.

  6. 6

    Bake Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Gravy Directions

  1. 7

    Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground sausage. Cook until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 8

    Make Roux

Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.

  3. 9

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, scraping the bottom of the skillet to incorporate the sausage and flour.

  4. 10

    Season the Gravy

Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens, stirring frequently.

  5. 11

    Serve

Spoon the gravy over the freshly baked biscuits and serve hot.
