Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.

Cook Pasta
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the fettuccine. Set aside.
Making Alfredo Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt completely.

Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add Cheese and Seasoning
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

Divide the Alfredo pasta among serving plates, then top with shaved Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley.
