Sandwich

Method

Sandwich

1

Prepare bun

If you prefer the bun warm and slightly toasty, split the hoagie bun lengthwise. Lightly brush the cut faces with the olive oil (optional). Place cut-side down in a medium skillet over medium heat or under a broiler for 1–2 minutes until slightly golden. Remove and place on a work surface. If not toasting, simply split the bun and proceed.

2

Spread condiments

Spread the mayonnaise evenly on the bottom half of the bun. If using, spread the Dijon mustard on the top half or swirl into the mayo before applying.

3

Assemble turkey and cheese

Layer the sliced deli turkey over the mayonnaise on the bottom half, arranging the 4 oz in an even pile. Place the 2 slices of Havarti cheese on top of the turkey so they cover the meat evenly.

4

Add produce

Place the 2 washed and dried lettuce leaves over the cheese. Arrange the 3 tomato slices over the lettuce in a single layer. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper over the tomato slices to enhance flavor.

5

Finish and serve

Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun. If desired, press down gently and cut the sandwich in half crosswise with a sharp knife. Serve immediately. Leftovers: wrap tightly and refrigerate; consume within 24 hours for best texture.
