Base Spirit & Liqueur

Citrus & Sweetener

Method

Prepare & Combine

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or flute in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail so the finished drink stays cold.

2

Measure and pour

In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin (or vodka), elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. These ingredients form the base that balances spirit, floral sweetness, and bright acidity.

3

Add ice and shake

Add a generous handful of ice to the shaker, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold (this chills and slightly dilutes the mix).

Strain & Finish

4

Strain into chilled glass

Discard the ice or water from your chilled coupe or flute. Double-strain (use a Hawthorne and fine mesh if available) the shaken mixture into the glass to remove ice shards and any pulp.

5

Top with sparkling

Carefully top the strained base with chilled sparkling wine or prosecco (about 3 oz). If you prefer a lighter, shorter drink, add about 0.5 oz club soda instead or in addition for extra effervescence. Pour slowly down the side to preserve bubbles.

6

Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the surface to release oils, then drop it into the drink or rest it on the rim. Serve immediately while effervescent.
