Dough and Filling
Method
Preparation and Baking
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Add the flour and salt, and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
Add Chocolate Filling
Cut the rolled dough into rectangles (about 4x6 inches). Place a piece of dark chocolate on one half of the rectangle and fold the other half over to cover it. Pinch the edges to seal.
Second Rise
Place the filled pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade Pain au Chocolat!
