Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Onions

Peel and slice the onions thinly. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Chop Green Chilies and Coriander

Finely chop the green chilies and fresh coriander leaves. Add them to the bowl with the sliced onions.

Batter Mixing

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, mix chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt.

  2. 4

    Add Water

Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while stirring to form a smooth batter. Ensure it's not too thick or too runny.

  3. 5

    Combine Batter with Vegetables

Pour the batter over the onion mixture. Mix well until the onions are fully coated with the batter.

Frying

  1. 6

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat until hot.

  2. 7

    Fry the Bhajis

Using a spoon, drop small portions of the onion batter mixture into the hot oil. Fry in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.

  3. 8

    Cook Until Golden Brown

Fry the bhajis for about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 9

    Drain Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the bhajis from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve Hot

Serve the onion bhajis hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
