Brewing Process
- 1
Step 1: Prepare the Water
Begin by heating 1000 ml of water in a large pot until it reaches around 70°C (158°F). This will be used for mashing the barley malt.
- 2
Step 2: Mash the Barley Malt
Add 150 g of barley malt into the heated water. Stir well and maintain the temperature around 65°C (149°F) for 60 minutes. This process converts the starches in the malt to sugars.
- 3
Step 3: Boil the Mixture
After mashing, bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, add 10 g of hops. Boil for an additional 15 minutes to extract the flavors from the hops.
- 4
Step 4: Cool the Mixture
After boiling, cool the mixture quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath to about 20°C (68°F). This helps in preparing for fermentation.
- 5
Step 5: Ferment the Beer
Once the mixture is cooled, transfer it to a fermentation vessel. Add 5 g of yeast and stir gently. Seal the vessel and let it sit at room temperature for about 7 days.
- 6
Step 6: Add Sugar for Carbonation
After fermentation, dissolve 10 g of sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the fermented beer. This will help carbonate the beer.

Step 8: Chill and Serve
After carbonation, refrigerate the bottles for at least 24 hours before serving. Enjoy your homemade Heineken 0.0!
