Brewing Process
- 1
Mashing
Start by heating 100 liters of water in a large mash tun to about 65°C (149°F). Add 12 kilograms of malted barley and 1 kilogram of rice to the heated water. Stir well and maintain the temperature for 60 minutes to allow the starches to convert to sugars.
- 2
Lautering
After mashing, transfer the mash to a lauter tun. Rinse the grain with additional heated water to extract the sugars. Collect the liquid, known as wort, which should be around 30 liters.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil. Add 0.15 kilograms of hops and continue boiling for 60 minutes. This step is crucial for extracting bitterness and flavor from the hops.
- 4
Cooling
After boiling, quickly cool the wort to around 20°C (68°F) using a wort chiller to prevent contamination.
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel. Add 0.05 kilograms of yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment for about 7-14 days at a temperature of around 18°C (64°F).
- 6
Carbonation
Once fermentation is complete, transfer the beer to a keg or bottling bucket. Add carbon dioxide for carbonation. Ensure that it is properly sealed.
- 7
Conditioning
Let the beer condition for another 2 weeks in a cool, dark place. This allows flavors to mature and settle.
- 8
Serving
After conditioning, your Budweiser light is ready to be served. Chill in the refrigerator and pour into a glass to enjoy!
