Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a kettle, bring 2 cups of fresh, filtered water to a boil. Make sure not to overboil, as this can affect the taste of the tea.

  2. 2

    Measure Tea Leaves

While the water is boiling, measure out 2 teaspoons of Japanese green tea leaves. Use high-quality leaves for the best flavor.

  3. 3

    Steep the Tea

Once the water has reached a boil, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly for about 30 seconds. Pour the hot water over the tea leaves in a teapot or teacup.

  4. 4

    Infuse

Let the tea steep for 2-3 minutes. Avoid steeping for too long as it can make the tea bitter.

  5. 5

    Strain and Serve

After steeping, strain the tea into another cup or teapot to remove the leaves. Serve hot.

Optional Enhancements

  1. 6

    Add Honey (Optional)

If desired, stir in 1 teaspoon of honey to sweeten the tea.

  2. 7

    Add Lemon (Optional)

Garnish with a slice of lemon if you prefer a zesty flavor.
