Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Chips
Peel and cut the potatoes into thick chips. Rinse them in cold water and pat dry.
- 2
Fry the Chips
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chips in batches until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 3
Prepare the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until smooth.
- 4
Fry the Fish
Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place them in the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Serve
Serve the beer-battered fish with the crispy chips, a side of mixed salad greens, tartare sauce, and lemon wedges.
