Method

Preparing the Turkey

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Turkey

Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels. Rub the turkey with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh thyme.

  3. 3

    Butter and Broth

Melt the butter and mix it with the chicken broth. Pour half of this mixture over the turkey.

  4. 4

    Roasting

Place the turkey in a roasting pan. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven, basting every 30 minutes with the remaining butter and broth mixture for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Preparing Accoutrements

  1. 5

    Prepare Stuffing

Follow the instructions on the box of stuffing mix to prepare it.

Boil potatoes until tender, then mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste.

  3. 7

    Green Beans

Steam or sauté green beans until tender but still crisp.

  4. 8

    Warm the Rolls

Warm the dinner rolls in the oven for the last 10-15 minutes of cooking time for the turkey.

  5. 9

    Make Gravy

Use turkey drippings to prepare gravy according to your preferred recipe.

  6. 10

    Serve

Once the turkey is done, let it rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, and warm dinner rolls.
