Method
Cooking the Patty
- 1
Prepare the Beef
In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick.
- 3
Cook the Patties
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.
Assembling the Cheeseburger
- 4
Prepare the Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash the romaine lettuce leaves and slice the tomato into thick rounds.
- 5
Toast the Buns
Optional: Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
