Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Equipment
Place your coffee dripper on top of your coffee mug. Insert the coffee filter into the dripper, ensuring it fits snugly.
- 2
Measure Coffee
Using the coffee scale, measure out 0.5 cups (about 30 grams) of freshly ground coffee beans and pour them into the filter.
Brewing
- 3
Heat the Water
Fill your kettle with filtered water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, let it cool for about 30 seconds to reach the ideal brewing temperature of around 200°F (93°C).
- 4
Bloom the Coffee
Slowly pour about 0.5 cups (120 ml) of hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion. This allows the coffee to 'bloom' and release gases. Let it sit for about 30 seconds.
- 5
Continue Brewing
After blooming, gradually pour the remaining hot water (2.5 cups or 600 ml) over the coffee grounds in a slow, circular motion. Aim to finish pouring within 2-3 minutes.
Finishing
- 6
Let it Drip
Allow the coffee to fully drip through the filter into your mug. This should take an additional 1-2 minutes.
- 7
Enjoy Your Coffee
Once all the water has dripped through, carefully remove the dripper and discard the used coffee grounds. Your pourover coffee is ready to enjoy!
