Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt the Chocolate and Butter

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Stir until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add the Remaining Ingredients

Gently fold in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cakes

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft. The tops should look slightly cracked.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the cake to slide out. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dusting of powdered sugar.
