Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Add Salt

Once the water is boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.

  3. 3

    Cook Pasta

Add 200 grams of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  4. 4

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.

Making the Sauce

  1. 5

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Sauté Garlic

Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in 400 grams of crushed canned tomatoes and bring to a simmer.

  4. 8

    Add Seasoning

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper to the sauce. Simmer for another 5-7 minutes.

  5. 9

    Add Basil

Tear 10 fresh basil leaves and stir them into the sauce just before serving.

  6. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the sauce, mixing well. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water gradually until desired consistency is reached.

  7. 11

    Serve

Serve the pasta hot, topped with 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese.
