Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Marinate the Ribs

In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Place the pork ribs in a large zip-lock bag or a dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag or cover the dish and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Slow-Roast the Ribs

Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F). Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover with another piece of foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, until tender. Uncover the ribs and brush with the remaining marinade. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and roast for an additional 15-20 minutes until caramelized.

Making the Asian Slaw

  1. 3

    Prepare the Slaw

In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, grated carrots, chopped green onions, and chopped cilantro. In a small bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the slaw and toss to combine. Let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
