- 2
Add Tomatoes
Add canned tomatoes to the pan. Crush them with a spoon and season with salt and black pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes until thickened.
- 3
Cook the Bucatini
Meanwhile, cook the bucatini pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- 4
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked bucatini to the tomato sugo and toss well to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
- 5
Whip the Ricotta
In a bowl, whip the ricotta cheese until smooth. You can add a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil for extra flavor.
- 6
Prepare Spicy Breadcrumbs
In a small skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil. Add breadcrumbs and red pepper flakes, and toast until golden brown.
- 7
Plate the Dish
Serve the bucatini topped with whipped ricotta, fresh basil leaves, and spicy breadcrumbs. Finish with grated Parmesan cheese.
