Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steaks

Pat the cowboy steaks dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the steaks with olive oil, then sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper evenly on both sides. If using, add the fresh rosemary sprigs on top.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for about 5-10 minutes until it's hot.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steaks

Place the seasoned steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

French Fry Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to make French fries. Soak the cut fries in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 5

    Dry the Fries

Drain the fries and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure they crisp up when frying.

  3. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried fries in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 8

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.
