Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Cod

  1. 1

    Soak the Cod

In a bowl, submerge the salted cod in water and let it soak overnight to remove excess salt. Change the water a couple of times during the soaking.

  2. 2

    Drain and Flake

After soaking, drain the cod and rinse it under cold water. Pat it dry with paper towels and then flake the cod into small pieces.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt.

  2. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the egg and then add the flaked cod, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Mix well.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until everything is well combined and forms a batter.

Frying the Buñuelos

  1. 6

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  2. 7

    Fry the Fritters

Using a spoon, drop heaping tablespoons of the batter into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the buñuelos from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 9

    Drizzle with Honey

Arrange the buñuelos on a serving platter and generously drizzle with honey before serving.

  2. 10

    Enjoy

Serve warm and enjoy your delicious buñuelos de bacalao!
