Marinade

Main Ingredients

Method

Marinating the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine the lime juice, minced garlic, olive oil, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Flank Steak

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for deeper flavor.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onions into thin rings. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Heat a large skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Remove the steak from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Cook the steak for about 5-7 minutes on one side until browned.

  3. 5

    Flip and Add Onions

Flip the steak over and add the sliced onions to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the steak reaches medium well (an internal temperature of about 150°F or 65°C).

  4. 6

    Rest and Slice

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes. After resting, slice it against the grain into thin strips.
