Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the littleneck clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit. Soak them in a bowl of cold water for about 20 minutes to help expel any remaining sand.

  2. 2

    Chop the Aromatics

Finely chop the onion and garlic. Rinse the cilantro under cold water, shake off excess moisture, and roughly chop it.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add the Clams

Add the cleaned littleneck clams to the skillet and stir to combine with the aromatics.

  3. 5

    Incorporate Wine and Seasonings

Pour in the white wine. Season with salt and black pepper. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the clams open up.

  4. 6

    Finish with Cilantro

Once the clams have opened, remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the chopped cilantro, mixing well to incorporate the flavors.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Dish

Spoon the clams and sauce into serving bowls. Optionally, serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
